Shopping around is no fun.
If you’re in the market for a big ticket item like spray foam insulation for your business, you’ve got to make the effort. There’s too much at stake.
But what happens when you do call around and get a few quotes, then you’re more confused than when you started?
Choosing Between 3 Different Quotes
That’s exactly what happened to one of our recent customers.
She called 3 companies. One quote will be crazy low. Another was crazy high.
Then the crazy-high company dropped their prices by a few thousand dollars just like that.
With 3 bids that were so different, she knew something was up and decided to stop worrying about the price and focus on finding someone who knew what they were doing.
She did a little homework on her own.
The interior of her building is black, and she wanted black spray foam that would look nice inside the building.
Two of the contractors she talked to told her they’d mix the black in with the spray foam ahead of time… that would keep the bid low.
But one contractor recommended painting the spray foam after it was up. It would cost more, but the spray foam would retain its fire resistance.
Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding!
The other 2 contractors were telling her what they thought she wanted to hear – how to do the job as cheaply as possible. But what she really wanted was someone to give her all the information so she could make an informed decision.
Our customer turned out to be one smart cookie! She didn’t risk losing everything in a fire to save a few bucks on insulation.
Besides, she made up the “few bucks” in her energy bills almost immediately after having the spray foam installed by our team.
Her 4,000 sf building had never been insulated before and her power bills are barely $200 a month now. Plus, she’s much more comfortable in the building.
